I’m heartbroken reading about the school shooting in Canada. A 12-year-old girl, Kylie Smith, was one of five students killed, along with a teacher, when an 18-year-old opened fire at his former school after also killing his own mother and brother. More than two dozen others were hurt. Kylie’s dad called her the “light of their family” — she loved art and anime and dreamed of going to school in Toronto. It’s devastating to think about such a young, innocent life taken away. There are so many painful questions about how this happened, especially knowing there were past mental health concerns and firearms had previously been taken from the home and later returned. Just an unimaginable tragedy for that community. 💔
