A man prepared a big feast, started the grill, and told his daughter, “Go call our relatives, friends, and neighbors. We’re celebrating!” Instead, the daughter went outside and shouted, “Help! My father’s house is on fire!” After some time, only a few people came to help. Many others acted like they didn’t hear anything. The ones who came stayed, ate, and enjoyed the food. The father looked around and said, “I don’t recognize most of these people. Where are our friends and family?” The daughter calmly replied, “The people who came weren’t here for a party. They came because they thought we were in trouble. These are the ones who truly care—and they’re the ones worth celebrating with.” Lesson: If someone doesn’t show up when you’re struggling, they don’t deserve to be there when you succeed.
