A few months ago, the first AI “actor,” named Tilly Norwood, was announced. “She”—or rather, it, since this entity is nothing more than code and data—represents the logical next step in the evolution of AI video generation. AI actors come with several perceived “advantages”: they never complain about working hours and are available 24/7, all year round. They are likely cheaper to generate than hiring real people. They will never unionize. They don’t require costumes, makeup, or physical preparation. And they can be placed into virtually any role or scenario imaginable, from portraying a kindergarten teacher to performing dangerous stunts or adult scenes.
