While we would start the worksheets in class, they wouldn’t be due until the following day One day, I happened to have a math test later that afternoon, so I tucked away my worksheet to work on later and discreetly took out my math notebook. Meanwhile, one of my classmates took out her phone and began texting furiously. Teacher: “Rachel, put away your phone and do your worksheet.” Rachel: [Pointing at me] “But he isn’t doing his worksheet either.” Teacher: “You can do whatever you want too when you actually turn in your assignments and have an A in the class.” I did well on my math test later that afternoon.
