Just sit down, then relax your body. Make sure there are no distractions, no tv and no radio. Then begin to inhale thru yer nose and breath out thru yer mouth. By doing this for 5 to fifteen minutes, you will start focusing all of yer energy into yer midsection. This will help to center yer tai chi, or yer inner energy down near where yer naval is. Then allow yer breathing to take place only thru yer stomach. That will be the only thing that you want moving, rising and falling steadily as you continue to breath in thru yer nose and blow out thru yer mouth, but all of this must be done without moving yer shoulders. This will help to balance your mind, body and spirit, and will slow down yer heartrate as you concentrate all yer energy on the centerpoint. Yer heartrate will start to slow down after 5 minutes, but continue for 15 or at least 10 minutes if you wanna keep it slowed down. That is the method that Eastern mystics use to help them meditate. All of this was taught to us by our Sensei, as students in our martial arts class.
